Who Is This Course For?
This assessment is designed for:
• Experienced powerboat users
• Boat owners needing certification for legal use abroad
• Anyone confident in handling a powerboat up to 10 metres
• Candidates who already meet the standard of the Royal Yachting Association Powerboat Level 2 course
👉 Your practical skills and theoretical knowledge should be equivalent to someone who has completed the full 2-day RYA Powerboat Level 2 course.

What Is the Direct Assessment?
The Direct Assessment is a practical and theory evaluation where an RYA Instructor assesses your ability without requiring full course attendance.
You will be assessed on:
• Boat handling at speed and close quarters
• Man overboard recovery
• Coming alongside and leaving berth
• Anchoring
• Navigation and pilotage
• Rules of the road
• Safety knowledge
If successful, you will receive:
✅ RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certificate
✅ ICC (if eligible)

The assessment can be carried out at:
• Club Náutico Altea, using our fully equipped training vessel
We also offer a mobile assessment service:

Not Quite Ready? Refresher Training Available
If you feel you need preparation before the assessment, we offer a 4-hour refresher session covering:
• Boat handling techniques
• Close quarters manoeuvring
• Basic navigation and chartwork
• Safety procedures
This is ideal if you have experience but need to brush up your skills or theory before assessment.
